From the kitchen table to the Halls of Congress, Earthworks works at every level of community organization and government to advocate for our health and climate. Our policy agenda starts by listening to the needs of people impacted by mining, drilling and fracking to translate real-life problems into policy solutions.
Working with our expert team of policy advisors we develop concrete action plans at the state and national level.
In the states, we advocate for strong local and statewide rules that create larger buffer zones between industry and communities, limit toxic pollution, light and noise, and build on national rules to meet local needs.
We are also working toward national baseline standards, because we all deserve clean air and water, no matter where we live. Our policies will help reduce methane pollution from fracking, prevent water contamination during drilling, shift the burden of cleanup to mining companies for hazardous waste and reform the antiquated 1872 Mining Law.
Your voice is critical in advocating for better rules that protect clean air, water and our health from mining and drilling. Together, we can hold these polluting industries accountable and reform our inadequate and outdated laws.
