Green-e: Renewable Electricity Certification Program

98% of electricity produced in the U.S. comes from non-renewable resources -- like coal. Unfortunately, non-renewable energy sources are dirty:  extraction aside, they're the number one cause of industrial air pollution in the U.S.

Some states have restructured their electricity markets so that consumers like you can choose what type of power you would like to buy. Green-e is a voluntary certification program for renewable electricity that ensures that the power source you choose takes consumer protections and environmental standards into account when certified.  Green-e verifies that electricity providers are delivering the type and quantity of renewable power they claim to be providing.
